About the Faculty of
The School of Psychology was founded in the early nineties,
under the umbrella of the Faculty of Humanities, and thus more than fifteen years
elapsed, until the Board of Directors upgraded it to the status of Faculty, thus
becoming the first academic unit for the training of psychologists that holds the status
of Faculty, in 2005.
Clinical Psychology was the first career that was taught in this academic unit, then, at
the beginning of the 2000s, the General Psychology career was initiated, having as a
prerequisite to take a technical career which was a Secondary Education in Psychology.
From that moment on, the growth of the Faculty has been exponential.
After the establishment of these two careers, a third one was successfully created:
Industrial Psychology, which filled a need, since it is currently the career at the
Central Campus with the largest number of students.
More recently, two more degrees were opened: Educational Psychology and Industrial
Psychology, expanding the range of opportunities for people who choose to study in this
university.
.
A significant achievement that took place in the year 2000,
was the restructuring of the curriculum of the Bachelor's
Degree programs served in the weekend plan,
replacing the high school teacher with the University Technician in Psychology, which
came to update the programmatic contents.
The School of Psychology has practically spread to all the country's cardinal points,
and currently has over six thousand students, becoming one of the schools that graduates
the greatest number of students. The graduate students in their internships perform
important positions in health centers, hospitals and university clinics. In the case of
general clinical practice, they work in companies or in human resources offices, when it
comes to industrial psychology.
