1. The seismic laboratory simulates the effect of earthquakes on structures. It uses a shake table to evaluate aspects such as failure modes, energy dissipation capacity, and improvement alternatives for seismic events.
  2. Physical models are installed on the shake table to study the behavior of structures and draw conclusions about construction systems and design standards.
  3. Seismolab's shake table is the second of its kind installed in Latin America. It has a mobile base driven by hydraulic actuators and allows for testing at nearly full scale.
