- The earthquake laboratory simulates the effect that earthquakes have on structures. It uses a shaking table to evaluate such aspects as failure modes, energy dissipation capacity and improvement alternatives for seismic events.
- Physical models are installed on the shaking table in order to study the structural behavior and draw conclusions on construction systems and design standards.
- Seismolab's shaking table is the second equipment of its kind installed in Latin America. It has a mobile base driven by hydraulic actuators and allows near full-scale testing.
