The geology and mineralogy laboratory is a space dedicated to knowledge and research on the following topics:
- Mineralogy: studies the physical and chemical properties of minerals found in different rocks. It focuses on chemical composition, crystallographic structure and solid state.
- Crystallography: explores the formation and characteristics of crystals.
- Illuminoscience: involves the study of light and its interaction with geological materials.
The laboratory is equipped with a variety of equipment, which includes:
- Digital petrographic microscopes: used to analyze narrow sections of rocks and minerals.
- Rock and mineral cutters: used to prepare samples and for thinning them.
- Digital polarizing optical microscope: enables observation and study of the optical properties of minerals.
- Safety hood: ensures a safe environment for handling substances.
This laboratory plays a key role in supporting the mining, geological and environmental sector.
